World Healthcare System and Role of Pharmacist

Abstract  

     Pharmacist are an integral part of the World healthcare system and provide services such as education, medication reviews, patient counselling, and disease prevention. The role of pharmacist increased after COVID outbreak in health system. After that the need of health professional increased worldwide, where pharmacist role enhanced in every country. Emergence of new technology, provide a platform to pharmacist, where he can interact worldwide for their continuous professional skill development.

     Pharmacist as a primary care provider, advise patients on how their medicines are to be used in the safest and most effective way in the treatment of common diseases. They also advise members of the public and other health professionals about medicines (both prescription and over-the-counter medicines), including appropriate selection, dosage and drug interactions, potential side effects and therapeutic effects of Drugs.

     Pharmacists are experts in medicines and should be facilitated to be the stewards of medicine safety. They apply their knowledge of medicines to promote their safe use and avoid harm to users and others in the community. Pharmacists provide direct care to patients and have a broader role in enhancing public health and quality use of medicines in the community.

They help to managing health and wellbeing of number of people suffering from multiple illnesses and living with multiple medicines over the long term. Providing patients with evidence-based consultation on medicines should be at the centre of the work of pharmacists.

     The welfare of the patient is at the centre of the work of pharmacist. Each patient has individual needs. Recognizing these, reacting to them empathetically and competently and engaging the patient even more actively in the drug treatment. Pharmacist are aware of their role in society are responsibly and committed to contribute decisively to the advancement and sustaining of the health of the population.
